about

Another track from CONCERTO FOR FOLDED SPACE that features my pal and hero: trombonist Jimmy Pankow from the super-group CHICAGO! The opening is myself with the wonderful trombone quartet Maniacal 4 in an homage to Jimmy's writing style with CHICAGO followed by a beautiful solo by Sir Pankow himself, then me and finally Eclectric Band guitarist DELUXE Noel Johnston in the rocked-out shred-fest ending. Enjoy!

lyrics

Here is the backstory for "The Neither Zone" from CONCERTO FOR FOLDED SPACE. All of the movements in the "Concerto" correspond with the stories in my sci-fi novel THE DOVER STONE.

Boy Scout Tenderfoot and native of Skruggsville, Missouri: 12-year old Dax Myerson creates a subset of the Scouts that he calls "The Goodfoot Tribe." Said club has decided that Tenderfoot is enough, and that they will just enjoy the BSA trappings from here-on-out...sans all promotions in rank. "We don't need your stinkin' badges!"

On the EPIC yearly campout known as The James River Jamboree, Dax and his pals Buddy Leafhopper and Phyl Everkleer discover more than the usual woodsy critters when they run into members of the ancient Ananaki race who take them on a tour of The Neither Zone: a place which is neither "here", nor "there". What happens next is...well, you'd better get the book (click on the "merch" tab right here on Bandcamp! :)
